Offshore Windfarm NORDSEE ONE

Project summary

The realization of the offshore wind farm ‚Nordsee One‘ (N1), situated approximately 40 km north of the German island Juist, is being undertaken by the Nordsee One GmbH, which is owned by RWE and NPI. The wind farm comprises of 54 Wind Turbines with a capacity of 6,15 MW (Senvion 6.2M126) each. The water depth across the site ranges from 27 m LAT to 29 m LAT. The wind farm N1 will have an output of 332 megawatts.

Scope of Work

Thorsten Zell worked on the Nordsee One project as international welding engineer and Frosio Inspector. His project cooperation started in April 2015 and ended in July 2018.

As fabrication engineer (Fabrication and supply of 54 offshore foundation structures) he was responsible for the fabrication and certification process of monopiles and transition pieces. Starting early 2017 he oversaw the root cause analysis for different issues regarding the bolted connection.
